  • Government by OBR

I think it’s safe to say that our government (UK) is basing all of it’s policy on figures by the Office for Budget Responsibility. I could go further and say the OBR effectively runs the government. When the OBR delivers more fiscal predictions, the government acts in accordance, hence the proposal to make further ‘savings’ of 500m from benefits

I paraphrase Ash Sarker, Novara Media’s analogy of a fiscal straight jacket that Blue Labour have put themselves in by giving the OBR such hold over major spending decisions that impact large swathes of the public.

Pure pragmatic logic dictates that a wealth tax would provide better state funding than gutting disability benefits. Seeing as there are plenty of people who believe the disabled are simply faking it, I chose to use this logic because it can’t be debunked, argued, yes but it remains logical and factual.

Disclaimer: I have a severe, lifelong disability so, yes, I have a certain amount of bias. I do believe that the decision to make drastic cuts to disability benefits is going to lead to more deaths and more misery. Welcome to austerity 2.0, it’s going to be cruel beyond the imagination and asides from a small cohort of MPs, it will be rubber stamped and approved by Labour, Reform and the Tories

  • What to do if you lose PIP payments due to government changes

After the changes to benefits announced by the UK government, I looked into the options for work in the event that people lose their PIP payments. There’s a lot to unpack but I would advise asking the jobcentre to source opportunities with Disability Confident employers and keep in mind that reasonable adjustments should be made by employers.

  • News or just hasbara?

Seeing headlines today- from newspapers I have some respect for- sadly not telling the full story about the ceasefire situation. Israel broke the conditions of the ceasefire from day one but even seemingly respectable news outlets are just parroting thalle hasbara ie Hamas is refusing to release hostages.

It makes me wonder what leverage Israel has on all these news outlets? I can only assume it’s lobbying and money based on what I know from documentaries about the Israeli lobbyists.

If you’re genuinely looking for independent journalism, I would suggest subscribing to people like Jonathan Cook and outlets like Dropsite News. I’m not saying the ‘legacy media’ lies but they clearly have conflicts of interest and at times, a complete morality deficit.

  • Rewatching OG Twin Peaks S1,E1

Starting another rewatch of OG Twin Peaks. The show rewards with every rewatch. Almost done with the first episode and I’m noticing how Cooper’s demeanor changes within the space of one episode. He starts off friendly but firm- his refusal to allow Dr Jacoby to attend the autopsy of Laura Palmer and the way he handles Bobby as an example. By the end of the first episode, Cooper comes across as more empathetic, perhaps the influence of Twin Peaks makes him more gentle.

What’s notable is the continuity in character from the Cooper of Fire Walk With Me who is certainly a lot colder. Kudos to Lynch and McLachlan for achieving this continuity despite the TV show preceding the movie.

The first episode does a great job of getting all the beats in from the get go. The little subtleties like MIKE just casually strolling past Sheriff Truman and Cooper are even more rewarding when you know what’s coming.

  • A fictional story: The world, through the lense of a truth seeker who knows what's really going on.

These wokies, they love shoving it in my face, don’t they? Telling me I’m the ‘bad guy’, like I’ve got some kind of ‘privilege.’ What privilege? They want the shirt off my back, don’t they? I can’t drive the car I want, can’t go outside my limits, I’m supposed to take the knee to these people, deny my own heritage, all while the globalists flood my country with immigrants.

Look, I’m not racist, there’s some good lads among them who respect us and our traditions and they don’t go messing around with our daughters. I just don’t like it when they come here and jump the que, you know what I mean? They’re walking around in their expensive clothes, iPhones, don’t speak a word of English, it’s not right. My great grandad was in the war, he fought for us so we could preserve our culture, our identity. He don’t agree with me but I respect him, I guess he’s a bit old and stuck in his ways, they’ve brainwashed him with all the woke nonsense, all that hard work for nothing I guess.

What was it Hitler said? Something about repeating lies until everyone believes it. That’s what they’re doing, on the TV, social media, everywhere. They tell us it’s climate change while they spray chemicals in the sky, put flouride in the water, genetically modify the food we eat, it’s a silent genocide on the white working class.

Yeah, I said it, we are being rreplaced, the studies show we will be a minority in a few decades time, look it up if you don’t believe me. It starts with the censorship, you can’t say anything, can’t even joke, can’t even show you’re proud to be English, well I’m going to anyway, let them try and take my flags down, I’m waiting, I’ve been waiting every day for that moment.

I know you’ve got Trump and Nigel and all that but I don’t really trust them, I’ve heard they are globalist puppets that pretend to be on our side. Musk seems alright, he respects free speech, tells it like it is. Anyway, you’ve got to be careful about the truth, it can get you thrown in jail like they did to Tommy and peaceful protesters in Southport.

They can try and silence me but I’m not going quietly into the darkness, I will rage in the sunlight and speak my truth, no matter who stops talking to me, don’t matter to me if my Mum and Dad don’t believe me, don’t even matter if my wife and kids can’t handle the truth or my so called mates.

I am sound of mind and certain of the inalienable truth, if I must go alone, I will go alone. I’m a pacifist but everyone has their limit. If I’m going to be wiped out, I may as well go in a blaze of glory knowing I did it for my country, my people. I guess this is goodbye, if youre reading this, I’m probably already gone, I died for your future, to protect you just like my Great Grandad did all those years ago. I’m sure they will tell you I’m a terrorist but remember what Hitler said “tell a lie repeatedly until everyone believes it”

  • Meta CEO embraces MAGA style 'Free Speech'

As what promises to be a tumultuous year begins, the signs of a rightward shift have already emerged, starting with the Meta CEO’s announcement that he will champion “free speech.” However, as journalist Ken Klippenstein has pointed out, this supposed lifting of censorship does not extend to publishing leaked documents about the US Vice President-elect, JD Vance. In my view, it is unlikely to extend to promoting transparency regarding Donald Trump and his administration, which is filled with figures who could aptly be described as dangerous and unfit for office.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk is openly embracing far-right ideology, selectively amplifying news designed to incite hatred and violence towards Muslims. As noted by the hosts of Chapo Trap House in their latest episode, Musk notably went silent when Brazil banned Twitter. This serves as a stark reminder of the right-wing’s co-opting of Orwellian doublespeak: they label themselves as advocates for free speech while disseminating vile, divisive hate rhetoric.

Their obsession with paedophilia and child abuse—a topic most ordinary people rarely think about—is particularly troubling. They conveniently ignore the fact that their own idols and associates are often exposed as paedophiles, domestic abusers, and violent criminals. This hypocrisy is unsurprising, given that many of these figures are brazen liars and opportunists. According to their narrative, the UK is experiencing an epidemic of refugees and Muslims committing heinous crimes. Much like Enoch Powell’s infamous “rivers of blood” speech, we are supposed to believe these events are happening everywhere and all the time. The reality, of course, is far less dramatic.

Incidents such as the tragic Southport murder and the grooming gang scandals, while horrific, are not widespread or daily occurrences. Figures like Musk, Kemi Badenoch, and Tommy Robinson exploit these isolated tragedies to push their agendas and profit from fearmongering. This tactic is not new, but its amplification through powerful platforms makes it particularly dangerous.

Returning to Brazil, Musk and Zuckerberg should seriously consider the consequences of their so-called “free speech absolutism.” If they believe this stance will go unchallenged, they are gravely mistaken. Similarly, our Prime Minister must recognise that appearing lenient towards the far right will not bode well for him. It is likely to lead to a resounding defeat at the hands of an insurgent far-right coalition, potentially including the already racist Tory party in its original form.

Listening to the far right complain about censorship is far preferable to granting them the freedom to spread violence and misery. In short, banning Twitter would effectively silence Musk. If Trump threatens tariff wars, alternative strategies must be developed, but capitulating to these extremists is not an option.

Last August, the UK witnessed the terrifying transformation of stochastic terrorism into real acts of violence. This was merely a precursor to the return of the “minor Dajjal,” Trump, and his followers. As a community, we must come together, as we did last August, and stand in solidarity against these forces. It would be more than welcome if our government joined us in taking a stand—choosing to be on the right side of history for once.
